No, I have some family there so I was aware of the country before Lord of the Rings. I also don't really associate LOTR with New Zealand because the movie wasn't set there...it was just filmed there. I've always wanted to travel there, but the cinematography in the movie definitely made it look even more appealing. When I hear NZ, I mainly think of the family I have there, the Flight of the Conchords (because they're from there) and their rugby team The All-blacks.
