i tell lies to:
spare a persons feelings(yes that dress looks nice, if they are already wearing it)
if i have a feeling but am not certain something else is the truth, i will agree with someone (yes, he seems like a nice guy, a good one for you, or it might work out between you two)
if i just dont want to take responsibility, such as saying "yep sounds like a great idea" when i know it doesnt
if i feel the person has no right to ask a question, is reaching into my personal life and i dont want to disclose the info, (how much did something cost etc)
if i dont want to admit something i did or not admit i didnt do something

wow , i guess i lie alot, lol, but luckily my perception of reality changes alot, so what is a lie right now might be the truth in a minute!

I have lied as long as it doesn't hurt someones feelings. Example if someone invites me to something that I don't want to go to I tell them that I have a previous engagement, this way I don't hurt their feelings, this to me is a little lie. If I told a more serious lie I would feel guilty, or worst yet get caught in that lie and would therefore be known as a liar and I don't like the sound of that !!!!!!!!!

My occasional lies are usually in social interactions where someone becomes intrusive into what is my personal life.

An observation that I've had is that some will lie as to tell the truth would lead to consequences. While others will lie if they believe that it will help to get what they want or need.

When telling the truth will gain you scabs and bruises or several nights of sleeping on the sofa. For example, do you think she's prettier than me, does this make me look fat. A lie is an absolute must on these occasions.

I lie in matters of opinion to protect someone's feelings from being hurt.

It's acceptable to me to lie when asked questions about a new haircut, whether someone looks fat or old, etc.

when the truth will hurt the listener more than is worth, while providing the truth-teller a means of escaping the guilt of their actions. the ideal of truth is based on the benefit of other people.
by putting the feelings of others before your own
