The cold fibers of the carpet hold considerable air and the fibers and air require very little heat to increase their temperature to foot temperature. The cold stone tiles are good heat sinks and remove considerable heat from a foot cooling the foot. The stone tiles are dense and permit greater direct contact between skin molecules and stone molecules to conduct heat (while fibers and air are good insulators resisting heat flow). Special temperature sensing cells in the foot detect both the temperature and rate of change of temperature when a touched object is relatively cold (or hot).

A stone tile is a better conductor of heat than carpet; which is an insulator. Hence, on stone, the heat is carried away from our feet, and we feel cold.

Well the carpet's molecules are more spread apart so it will take less time for it to absorbe the heat than the marble which is more compact. Now when both objects are at the same temperature but then u put them let's say... in a freezer? then the carpet will lose heat alot faster and the marble will stay wormer longer.
