Nintendo DSs are completely region free so you can buy games in America, China, Japan, Australia, anywhere and they will work on your DS.

DS games are region free, I have played both american and Japanese games on my UK DSlite,

As the ds is not connected to a television it enables all games to be universal.

I'm pretty sure it is because I play Japanese games on mine all the time.
