Two shows I watched last season the class and what about brian ended with cliffhangers. Do these networks not care about the viewers anymore?

The writers create cliffhangers to maintain interest from the end of one season to the beginning of the next. Unfortunately for them (and us), they have no way of knowing if the show is going to be canceled or renewed beforehand. Although some shows are canceled after only two or three episodes ("Daybreak" comes to mind), leaving us hanging, if a show is successful like "Lost," it may get enough advance notice so that loose ends can be tied up. Or sometimes, though more rarely, a "reunion" type episode can be put together after the fact, or even a movie, such as happened with the canceled "Firefly," which engendered the film "Serenity."
But the bottom line is that networks are looking at, well, the bottom line. If a show doesn't pull in enough eyeballs, it's ciao bambino, and never mind that the plug was yanked almost in the middle of a sente--

I don't know why the do that. I guess its to keep you wondering. Or maybe the possibility of a reunion movie. I remember they did the same thing with Dynasty years ago. Gave it this huge cliffhanger then it was canceled. It wasn't until years later they did a reunion movie and we got to find out what happened.

Apparently not !
They usually end the season with a cliff hanger to get viewers to come back.
I think they cancel the show if its not bringing in the $$$$ and could care less about the viewer !
