There are some chemical reactions taking place, but the change you see is mostly physical. Those hard little seeds are popcorn and that hot fluffy stuff is still popcorn. Of course, popping corn is endothermic and irreversible.

popping popcorn isn't a chemical reaction
that's like asking for the chemical equation of cutting up a piece of paper
when popcorn pops, it's just a change of physical structure caused by the heating of water inside the popcorn seeds when u heat it up. it turns into steam and induces physical changes, just as if i put pressure on a piece of paper, it induces physical change and it ends up being scrunced

Not sure but it pops because the water inside (H2O) converts to steam when heated and makes it pop.
