Looks like another Tax excuse.

If I run a computer and it uses allot of electric, so be it, I pay for the electric and what has that go to do with the Tory party in anycase?

I have green issues at heart and I use where possible energy efficient appliances and lighting so I do my bit but it takes the "P" when you have a political party proposing radical ideas like this.

I only use TV to play DVD's for my son, I don;t watch TV, I get everything via the internet so it is a bit of a "P" take when you read articles like that, if you have a plasma screen TV, enjoy it, you paid for it, you have to pay for the lekkie which is taxed!!! dont for getthat, so what is the Tory party making plans like these for?

IM waiting for the Lib Dems and New Labour to stick their 2 pennys worth in the pick n mix.

What are your views?

There's something like £12 billion of personal debts out there in voter-land, ££millions of it being written off by the legalised theft that is IVA, and Camera-on and Co want to force people who are already on the poverty line to buy greener TVs, fridges etc, and have solar panels installed. If not, those folks will pay more tax than those who can afford to splash out on such luxuries.

If anyone ever needed proof that the Tories (which is an old Gaelic word for "thief", incidentally) are there only for the well-off, look no further than this.

What I want to know is, how does one carry a new fridge while riding back from the shops with one's bought-and-paid-for wife on a pushbike while hugging a hoodie? Adds a whole new meaning (and image!) to the term "multi-tasking".

And this idiot thinks he should be in the top seat for Britain?

Good Q, Cheek. take a star.

Its a good point 'cheek' some things take up a disproportionate ecological footprint like driving or flying, if you are talking domestic electrical appliances an electric kettle boiling up for a couple of coffees uses more than having a plasma TV on all day - the Tories are just trying to get a headline.

There is a government one of these but I could not find it, but heres a ecological footprint calculator in a news paper...

EDIT: this is why I agreed with your early bin issue. I don't drive, I hardly ever fly and I don't have a large garden to cut and water - yet I have some stupid political f*cker who travels in a huge Limousin and jets around the all year telling me to sort my bins out cause IM polluting the planet !

I reckon this is a real vote loser. There is a big difference between being a profligate user of electricity, like leaving lights on all the time, putting too small a load in the washing machine, leaving things on standby, a TV in every room etc, to the normal use of items of convenience. What do they want? Do they want us to go back to the days of coppers and mangles, no TV, no computers, no tumble driers etc. Give me strength!

Where I live we have a Tory council that are backing an airport expansion.
I'm afraid their green credentials are just lip service to jump on the bandwagon, like Mr Cameron riding his bike in his trainers being followed by his car with his shoes in the boot.
I do think that the manufacturers should install on/off switches on remote controls automatically on any electrical goods made.

I though that they were putting themselves forward as the freedom party. It really doesn't sound like a vote winner to me.I bet that they haven't got any statistics as to how much difference it will make to climate change on a global scale.

They need to hush their beaks and mind their own business! It's personal choice, like smoking and driving 4x4's etc, if that's what people want then so be it. God it's so infuriating being dictated to
