i searched yell.co.uk, but the quarries are scattered everywhere, i dont see much of a limestone quarry 'hot spot' - which is what i was looking for

Mansfield Woodhouse in Nottinghamshire has always quarried limestone for hundreds of years, when i was growing up in the fifties there was at least 5 quarries in use. The stone for the houses of parliament was quarried from this area, so it is a famous area for limestone. sadly they have all stopped producing now

Derbyshire, Yorkshire, Mendips. Try looking at caving sites - good caves = lots of limestone

wherever you get limestone which is quite a lot of the country, especiall south west, south wales, the pennines and much of north east england, southern scotland and almost the entire west coast of Ireland

As a year nine geography teacher I just have to ask...what the hell for?? The sites mentioned here are all a good start, but surely it would have been better to have distributed the map to the students, then set a series of tasks relating to it? Just trying to help...
