Can a publisher still reject your writing, even if you're rich? I thought as long as you have a whole bunch of money, you can pretty much get anything you want.

two things:
sometimes if they're rich enough, they'll hire a ghost writer to clean up the writing while retaining full authorship

also there is iuniverse.com for self-publishing. You don't have to be rich to self-publish, but the more money, the better, I guess. I've thought of self-publishing if for some reason publishers reject my book. I'm still writing it though.

I am not a publisher but I used to work in a bookstore and I can assume that if you are rich enough you can pay and get your book published. If you are famous enough even if your book is very poor your get published anyway (I can't tell you how many stupid and poorly written books get published just because the person is a famous one: we received tons of them in our bookstore every weak).

Wealth, especially coupled with fame, might get you connections leading to a read at a traditional publisher, but it won't get you published there. (You won't even feel the bite of a pay-to-publish deal, though, if you're rich.)

However, fame (with or without wealth) can get you published, since famous people's books sell based solely on their celebrity and without regard to the book's quality (although a good book by a famous person will sell better than a poor one by someone of equal celebrity).

If you're rich you can just pay someone to publish it. Getting is sold is another story. If the books sucks then no one will buy it and you were throwing your money away when paying someone to publish it.

If you have enough money I think you can get it published yourself "don't quote me on it though" but no self respecting publisher is going to put his name and trust into something he thinks is rubbish.
