I guess Newton. I think Einstein worship can be overdone sometimes, but he's still probably a close second, if not first. Confuscius and the Buddha are good picks simply because of the early bird factor. Ancient Greek scientists might have a shot if it weren't for the fact that we forgot everything they taught us for a millenia.
There's always Darwin. Or Watson & Crick. Galileo. Oh, Pasteur is not a bad idea. Tesla.
Actually, forget all of those. It's Newton.

Feeling sarcastic today, so, Is there anyone useful in history?
Seriously, Thomas Edison and Henry Ford are my favorites. What we take for granted and truly couldn't live without now as a society, were novelties created by "crazy people" who didn't follow the norm, and imagined something nobody could think of, and made it real. They didn't put stock in "what couldn't be done." If you follow my meaning.

Mahatma Gandhi
Oprah Winfrey - because she has brought so much attention to children of the world that are abused and in need (except the US) and her random act of kindness was very memorable. It made us all think.
