I am a MTF transsexual. Can anyone tell me if I could change my gender to Female on my interim passport? I am due to go to Thailand in January for the surgery.

I heard that the law has changed (thanks to Johnny :-#)

If anyone has any information. Could you tell me please !

Thank you for in advance !

If you are married to a female, you cannot get your gender on your passport changed under Australian law as same sex marriage is illegal here. If you are NOT married, then you can get it changed AFTER your surgery.

You apply to do it through the Registry of Birth's Deaths and Marriages.

Alas the AG department has canceled the right of an interim passport last year - though there was an appear to overturn this which may have been successful.

Good luck in January!

You can't change the passport until AFTER you have had the surgery. But yes, you can change it.
