I'm an international student travelling to London in Sept for higher education. My two small children( ages 3 years and 7 months) will be accompanying me. Can anyone suggest affordable flats for student families in the Islington area?

Hello, try http://www.gumtree.com in the accommodation/lettings section which is the first section. Also try http://www.spareroom.co.uk and http://www.accommodationforstudents.com

Your collage or university (or their official agent) should be able to sort all of that our for you. Contact the International Student Centre of the institute and take it up with them. It should be a free counselling service they provide. However, a placement fee and sometimes even an admin. fee are normal.
If you are looking to not have to pay these fees, you could use a London area estate agent. But, be warned, you may not have the same come-back as you would with the college or uni.
Have a good time over there!
