communication is some what a two way thing, it requires understanding and interpretaion and is certainly not just refind to the verbal senses. How do I know this? Just look around, have you never seen a group of people having a discussion using sign langauge? Have you never read a hidden meaning concealed between the lines of a poem? or understood a painting from the painters perspective? What about police men directing traffic? what about YAHOO ANSWERS LIKE JUST NOW FOR EXAMPLE? are we not communicating in a group without speaking to each other? or is there not really any one out there? maybe I need a doctor :)

False False False.

People can lie. What people say can be deceptive and ambiguous. I think the best form of communication is body language.

Yes words have meanings but each person attaches a slightly different meaning to the same word thus allowing for many different interpretations of writings and what people say. Verbal communications can be affective and efficiant but they are certainly not the most reliable.

I work with disabled people alot of whom are non-verbal and they are quite capable of communicating with me and others.

Once again body language is the most reliable from of communications.

Communication isn't always a purely verbal process. And I remember quite well a course I once tought (on Digital Signal Processing, a -very- math intensive subject) to a group of Israelis. I don't speak or understand more than a couple of words of Hebrew, and their English was pretty rudimentary, but the class went fine because we all spoke the language of Mathematics.

I was once in Rome. I tried to communicate with the person who was selling me a fare and, although my native language is Spanish and Italian is quite alike to it, and although this person, working in the most important train station that there is in Rome should have of course understood me, he just didn't want to and he refused to reply to my question, that was very simple: where in this fare would I find the train schedule.

After that I met a Chinese woman, we didn't have a common language but I was able to show her how to make the automatic seller machine work. It's just a matter of "wanting to do it"
