Our priorities are so out of whack! This idiot still roams free while we're in Iraq with our thumbs up our...

US government...um...do your jobs? It's not hard, he's somewhere in that area of Pakistan by Afghanistan!

I bet they could get him on satellite playing volleyball and still not go after him.

Ridiculous.

In response to Lynn:

"The number of U.S. troops deployed in Iraq stands at about 153,553, and the number in Afghanistan is 25,945, according to U.S. President George W. Bush."

It's forgotten. Even Bush says that much. In Iraq we've just been going after whoever's in Iraq. In Afghanistan it doesn't appear to be much more than minding the fort compared to Iraq.

I know you're an army nurse and all, but I'm an engineer and I can't remember the last time anyone from any unit I've been assigned to since for ever has been deployed to Afghanistan.

It would definitely help to take him out and George Bush should have done more and should be doing more to get him but, I disagree with you that he is what the war on terror is all about. There will still be terrorism even if Osama bin Laden is killed. If McDonalds went out of business, it wouldn't stop the making of hamburgers. Osama bin Laden should be a priority but ending him doesn't end the problem.

Did you honestly think that Bush would hunt down someone that is practically part of his family? Why do you think that so soon after 9/11 he started jumping all over Iraq when everyone knew that Al Qaeda was behind it?? besides the fact that his daddy went over there the first time and made a complete *** of himself. Bush probably knows exactly where Osama is...I bet he goes to visit him in his little cave and exchange stories about how they've both screwed over the United States.

as long as obl is free it gives bush the ammo he needs to keep the war on terror going, they managed to find saddam down a hole and he had nothing to do with the attacks on 9/11 (not directly anyway) but yet the man who did is still roaming free as a bird, why does bush get away with dismissing obl after what he has done? it's more likely obl is working as a puppet for them not against them,
catching obl was never an option for bush was it?
it's a shame a big nation like the U.S can get lead up the garden path by a fuckwitt like bush.
maybe one day you lot will wake up to him, i seriously doubt it though.

Don't be naive as to think that we don't have troops in Afgahnistan; we do. We have many troops over there. The media is biased and because statistically we lose more troops over in Iraq that is what the media covers. Afghanistan is not being forgotten.

And OBL is not the epitome of the War on Terror. Just because he is a big name in the Taliban doesn't mean he is the Taliban. Even if we caught him, it doesn't mean that "YAY, the war is over". There are many advisors and brothers and fighters that have great strength in the Taliban regime.

Afghanistan is not on the back burner. The media does not cover Afghanistan as much because Iraq is more interesting to people. It's true.

EDIT: In response to Deth. You haven't been in the right units then. Fort Drum 10th Mountain Division just got back from Afghanistan in February - I was assigned to them. I spent my time over there OEF. The 82nd Airborne division replaced them in Afghanistan. I have many friends over there.

Afghanistan is a bit smaller than the state of Texas and is mostly rugged unpopulated mountains. Most of our troops are out in the more populated areas rather than way out where there isn't civilization (though we do air patrol there). Iraq is twice the size of Idaho (larger than Afghanistan) and the population is higher. There are larger cities with higher populations. That is one of the main reasons why we have a higher troop force there. We have more ground to cover and a lot more Iraqis to be on the defense of. Our presence is there in Afghanistan even though it's not a media frenzy. There is only so much we can do.

You also have to consider that Afghanistan is supported by NATO and Iraq is not. Although we have less troops over in Afghanistan, we also have coalition forces in the fight there too. There are many countries in the fight over there and not just the U.S.

Consider this: maybe the concept of ONE organised threat is largely a myth. Individual individuals and small groups organised to commit acts against civic society but the nightmare vision of a uniquely powerful hidden organisation waiting to strike our societies is an illusion.

It's not that easy to find someone who doesn't want to be found, and who has lots of friends to help him hide. There was a chap who was wanted for bombing abortion clinics in the US; he was able to hide out in the Appalachian mountains for years, and he had a lot less help than bin Laden does. (He did eventually get nailed.)
