It would seem that according to some of the less articulate and dare I say less well informed members of the Yahoo Q&A that most of what they describe as "Pro McCann supporters" have crossed the fence.
Well here is one who has not.
I admit that I am less sure of my stance with regard to the innocence of the McCanns in anything other than being neglectful in leaving the children alone in the first place, but I still remain convinced of two things.
1) Innocent until PROVEN guilty.
That is where it begins, and that is where it will end, one way or the other.
2) That in the abcence of the McCanns having been found guilty I continue to find the growing speculation and vile accusation revolting.
The amount of people who are now jumping in with "I told you so" and "I have said this from the start" is both laughable and sad.
They put me in mind of nasty little Vultures coming to pick a carcuss clean after the real killers have been and gone.
Crossed the fence, no, not me.

This has never been about the McCanns - the parents, that is. It has always been about a missing little girl and what happened to her. And yes, I have felt for her grieving parents.
If the parents have had anything to do with it, then I am very sorry - for Madeleine. The evidence appears to be very scanty, but that is not our responsibility. Our responsibility in a civilized society is to ensure fairness - and the witchhunt as evidenced on this site was abominable.
I odn't mind being proved wrong - I am happy to be seen though, as a person of moderate views who would never stoop to the levels as shown by some people here.
The jubilation of some people stuns me. Is this a suitable emotion to show? Of course not. Where is the sadness, the sorrow?
I'm with you - innocent until proven guilty.

You are absolutely right.everyone IS innocent until proven guilty.BUT the Police involved in this case have stated that they believe that Kate McCann accidentally killed Maddie. They must have very strong evidence to support this charge. But under Portuguese law they cannot public ally reveal the evidence. As one of those who suspected the parents involvement in the child's disappearance from day one,and have watched the way they ,the McCanns ,have manipulated the media, to see that you describe me as a vulture is very weird. It was not l that deserted those children.Nor l who left the remaining two and jetted off to another country shortly after.Nor was it l who set up a limited company, with one of my relatives on the board. to control the one million pounds in donations.vultures..........look at Kate and Gerry not l.

Neither have i, Saturn...
If anything, the utter glee at the 'prospect of being right all along' disgusts & shocks me.
Its like no one can bear to wait for any proof.
They'd rather charge, try & judge the McCanns on the basis of their well...baseless accusations.
Truly wonder if any of them have stopped a second to think that IF they McCanns are proved innocent of murdering their baby (like i'm certain they are) how wrong & cruel this added strain & pressure of accusations on 2 grieving parents are...

I'm still on your side of the fence Saturn!
I said last night that there were people coming out of the woodwork to say 'I knew they were guilty from the start' but have never contributed anything until now.
Stick to your guns. I'm with you all the way x

hey saturn.
good for you for sticking with what you believe in and not conforming to the majority.
you know where i stand on this, but it brings me no pleasure hearing the current events unfold, we do not know whether they (Mccanns) requested this status (which i doubt) or the PJ have declared this to stop them coming home.
we are still no closer to finding Madeleine or finding out the events of that night, which seems to be forgotten in this media haze.

well said, i have not changed my mind either, i think they are not telling the whole truth but i dont think they killed her. if her blood had been found in the hire car they would have been charged by now. i think the police are getting desperate. if we are wrong i shall not be apologising to anyone because i have an opinion of my own.

Here here Saturnfive. I can't believe how people are behaving about this. 'Suspect' in Portuguese law and 'suspect' in our language have subtle differences between the two.
Let's not forget what happened with Robert Murat (who incidentally is still a formal suspect - they can't all have done it now can they). He was as good as hung, drawn and quartered in the media and they still haven't charged him.
I haven't crossed the fence either.
