A technical analyst analyzes and transmits the intellectual content of scientific, technological, or other specialized information. The specialist performs a variety of functions or the work may be specialized in one functional area. Duties include acquisition, analysis of subject content of the documents acquired, indexing and preparation of abstracts or extracts. Also included are duties and responsibilities involved in the direction, administration, or coordination of technical information services, technical illustrations and graphical productions. Typical tasks include: technology assessment, system assessment, research support, and specialized engineering services.

Based on your description, I assume that the typical activities of a systems analyst are included in the scope of work of a project manager in that company. Since this is only an assumption I recommend you to further clarify if that is the understanding of your managers. In case you have to handle larger projects you still can decide how to cover both. An idea would be to delegate the work of systems analysis to one or more of your project team members. Although, the responsibility for your project will stay with you anyway.

Sounds pretty technical. An analyst simply "analyzes"...meaning looking at data or information and forming an opinion and ultimately a solution to a problem that nobody knew existed. There are as many analyst job functions as there are companies, so it all depends on who you ask. Check out salary.com for more information.
