I think unthaw should stopped being used...
You thaw it out.. not unthaw it. Even though they both mean
-"to pass or change from a frozen to a liquid or semiliquid state; melt."
-"become or cause to become soft or liquid."
If the dictionary didn't say 'unthaw' was a word, I'd say it wasn't one.
