Quite the contrary. Why do you hate the poor farmer's of Afghanistan? If you would ever care to read and study you would find that experts on the subject matter are largely in agreement that the way to end the opium trade in Afghanistan is to build the infrastructure that allows their government to govern efficiently. Wiping out the opium crop your way just means continued fighting and an increased recruiting zone for terrorists.

IT sure would. And when they were through putting an end to the opium trade they could go after Bin laden and friends and get a real win in the war on terrorism by finishing the job Bush all but abandoned in order to invade Iraq.

Sure that would win the hearts and minds of the Afghan people. We are going to wipe out all your money making crops and..... Sure it would be a win but what you propose we replace their income with so they can feed their families and do not resent the US enough to become a terrorist?

the only way it will end forever is to have troops over every acre of land and keep them there , i say make drugs legal and trust people to take care of them self's and bring all the troops home , quite trying to babysit everyone.

You'd have to believe that Bush's buddies make no money on the drug trade first before you believe that childish nonsense that Bush and his cronies care about the US public.

But then Bush would be blamed for weakening the economy of Afghanistan. See the problem here. Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. I for one hope he does, a lot of their funding would go away.
