Of course, did you think I was asking if they'd get there? No, I'm asking how far they'll get once they're in. Lose in the wild card? Division? Championship? Super bowl? Or do they win it?

theyll get there...no SB, maybe theyll win first round. Im a hardcore 49ers fan as well, and weve improved a lot...but were not at SB level yet. A Smith is still improving every game, and our playoff hopes rest on his development, as well as Gores health. Our D still needs to get a lot better as the preseason showed, but overall we look better. GO 49ERS

I think they can win a wild card game, but not much more than that.
The offense is solid, and the D is better with Nate Clements, but there are a lot of teams with equal talent levels in the NFC this year.

I think they have a good chance of making it to the playoffs. I think the Seahawks will likely take the NFC West, but I think the 49ers will have a good chance of getting a wild card spot. Unfortunately, I don't see them getting more than one win the playoffs. They have a competent offense but their defense is just not good enough to get any further than that.

The problem is Alex Smith. He is too inconsistent to take them to the playoffs, let alone win once they get there. Look for another 7-9 season and missing the playoffs.

Yes, they'll win it all this year, but only if Montana, Rice, Lott and the rest of them are coming back. Otherwise, if they really get into playoffs and win one game there, it will be a miracle.
By the way, I'm their fan although I'm not from SF area.

I think they'll lose in the wild card round, because though i like them they are young and inexperienced.

Alex Smith at QB, Nolan at head coach, playoffs? I think not. Neither one of them belongs in the NFL. Alex for being lousy, Nolan for drafting him #1.
