Enemy:
His name is Douglas J. Reyer, Jr., my ex-husband.
He's 5' 10" tall, dark blonde hair, blue eyes, resembles a young Adoph Hitler. I never realized this until recently.
Very abusive towards women & children. Extremely jealous. Very demanding.Violent. Many scrapes with the law, no convictions. Hardship discharge from the U.S. Army or so he said. I suspect otherwise. Southern, White, Born-Again Fanatic, D.O.B. 02/23/1948, currently lives in Mississippi.
Attempted to kill me on several occassions.
As far as I'm concerned, HE IS THE ENEMY!!!!

The word "enemy" is like "good" or "evil" - they are relativistic concepts.
There is no absolute "good" and there is no absolute "enemy." One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. One country's enemy is another country's president.
So an "enemy" is an entity (person, idea or representation of either such as a country or religion) that threatens a person's personal preferences and desires. Enemies do not exist except in the mind of a person who chooses to have an enemy.
The idea of an absolute enemy - or a person who manifests absolute "evil" - does not exist. To say that one does exist is to deny that the person in question has any motivations, feelings or thought process. While we may have very strong, negative feelings about the actions of someone like Adolf Hitler, to say that he was "evil" is to be blind to the motivations and reasons behind his actions. And if we are comfortable in that kind of ignorance, then we won't take the necessary steps to prevent it happening again.

A person with whom you share mutual dislike and wish to thwart in some way for personal or categorical reasons. So there can be people I really don't like who I wouldn't call enemies because we have no intention of causing each other problems. Every now and then there are people who I basically like, but I want to interfere with their goals or they want to interfere with mine because we have a conflict; those aren't enemies either. To me an enemy is simply someone or a group that is working actively against you. And, you are working actively against them as well.
