I'm in an undergraduate social psychology course and I need to do a small experiment based on some social psychology theory. Some sort of "everyday life study" is preferable and observational studies are allowed. I seem to be completely blank and all of the ideas I've come up with so far seem to be either unethical, not interesting, too complex, or all of the above. :(
I have to make up my mind within two weeks. Any suggestions?

Something about how people react on sites such as Yahoo answers? What questions make people want to answer, what questions irritate people, why people think certain answers are the best?
You could put your subjects in front of Yahoo Answers (or similar sites), and chart their emotional reactions to questions over a period of time.
Just a thought.

I would check first in my textbook to see exactly what sorts of "social psychology theories" your instructor is expecting you to consider, then pick your topic to demonstrate the validity (or invalidity) of the theory selected. It would probably be very interesting if you selected some theory with which you did not agree, or about which you had never thought, then to do an observational study on it. You may come up with something which will even surprise you. Sometimes we are not introspective enough to have formed a definite opinion regarding some particular matter, and an experiment like this could give you some insight into yourself that you had never imagined! I hope you enjoy this project--it can be quite a positive experience.

assemble a number of human beings exterior of a construction; have a lookout on the interior, who can deliver a silent (vibrating) text cloth message (pass!) while somebody is on the way out, so which you're all dealing with away and looking out up on the sky. The lookout follows, (or you have a hidden observer interior sight) and surreptitiously observes while the problem seems as much as see what you're all watching, and sends a 2nd message. then you definitely all turn and face the problem. notice the reaction, repeating this with a lot of human beings. you each make your predictions formerly; see what happens; interview them later, if prepared. that's going to be exciting, particularly on gender lines.

Watch people shopping in the grocery store and what they put into their shopping cart and try to guess if they are married or single. Then ask them which they are. Then compare what the single people buy and what the married people buy and how are they the same? How are they different? How can you tell whether they are single or married just from watching what they put into their cart.
