Seriously, I don't get it. Whether Romney, Gulliani, or Tancredo gets voted as the primary candidate they're not going win. The people want out of Iraq, they want socialized medicine, and they want to be able to trust their government again, all things that the republicans don't want. The polls show it, the news shows it, the overall feeling in America shows it, we want a Democrat in office. This was most evident in the Democratic sweep in 06. So honestly why do republicans think they even have a fighting chance of winning? Seriously why?

I don't get why everyone is thinking Clinton will be the next President. Sure she is ahead in the polls but I believe that Obama and to a certain degree Edwards have a good fighting chance as well. I just know that no matter who the Democratic candidate is they'll win.

Lets take it one point at a time---your points.
!. The people want out of Iraq? People don't want cancer either, but once you know you have it, you shouldn't hate the Dr. because you don't like the cure. Terrorism is like cancer. If it isn't aggressively fought and brought under control, it consumes the entire body. The Dems know that as well as the Rep's do. They are just telling the 'no guts-no glory' whiners what they want to hear so they have a chance of getting elected.
2. Don't say 'they' want socialized medicine. 'You' want socialized medicine. Hopefully, most people are smart enough to know that bringing in socialized medicine is a big step toward becoming a comunistic society.
3. Trust their government again? When was the last time we could truley 'TRUST' our government? PLEASE don't try to tell us that we could trust our government when Clinton's, Kennedy, Carter, or any of the other Libs were in office. Who knows when the last time was that we had full trust in our government!!!
4. The elections in 06? In the first place, electing a Congressman or Senator is a far cry from electing a President. I have asked a number of Dem's if they would vote for Palosi for President. The answer has been an over-whelming "H*ll NO"!!! My follow-up question is, "Then why did you?" (Complete outrage and denial!!) When I explain that if anything happened to President Bush and V. President Cheney, Palosi would be next in line--- they didn't realize or think of it that way. Educated voters on that Lib side, huh?
5. The Polls and news media?!! These are your sources?!!That's how you became an authority on what American's feelings are? Two very reliable sources you've got there---NOT!!!
So honestly, Republicans think they have a fighting chance of winning simply because they do.

1 no one thought Bush could get reelected but he did
2 Americans don't want socialized medicine
3 Polls show that the approval rating of the democratic congress is really low
4 You can't trust democrats. (they said where getting out of Iraq when we take back congress yet where still in Iraq)
5 Democrats usually don't show up to vote for some reason giving republicans a chance to win the vote.
6 Hilliary Clinton is too hated to win a general election, Obama lacks any real good plan and any real experience, and Edwards is viewed as an elitist.
So basically that's why republicans think they have a chance even though they may not win the defentlly have a chance.

This whole thing you've laid out is in your perception and that's it. The media have a way of shaping public perception, and that perception almost always turns out not to be true when the election rolls around.
The level truth is, I do not know one single person in my entire world who actually wants socialized medicine. I also live in a military town where the Iraq war is simply not as demonized as it is in other places. It's JUST NOT. The Democratic sweep in '06 was one indicator that the pendulum is swinging back toward the left again, but it doesn't have the momentum the news media want you to believe. The gap between the Dems and the Reps in Congress is just not that wide yet, and frankly, I hear more complaining about Hillary and Obama than I hear support for them.

This is why....
Taken from Newsweek:
"... but perhaps the best news for the man once dubbed "America's Mayor" for his role in seeing New York through the 9/11 attacks is the lead he's opened up on his potential Democratic rivals for the White House. According to the survey, Giuliani outpolls Illinois Sen. Barack Obama by 5 points (48 percent to 43 percent), former senator John Edwards by 2 points (47 percent to 45 percent) and Sen. Hillary Clinton by 1 point (47 percent to 46 percent). Last month Clinton led Giuliani by 3 points (49 percent to 46 percent), as did Obama (47 percent to 44 percent). Thirteen percent of registered Democrats say they would cross party lines to support Giuliani, while only 4 percent of Republicans say they would do the same for Clinton. Perhaps more important, among independent voters, Giuliani leads Clinton 49 percent to 42 percent."

It is very simple. The dems will probably nominate Hillary Clinton and she doesnt have a chance of winning a national election. Dems are also in for a shocker when they realize that they arent running against Bush.
The ONLY reason the dems took congress is because moderate conservative democrats won a variety of seats. People who vote that way, a lot of them independents, arent going to abandon all of their beliefs and elect a far left liberal like Hillary or Obama. The dems this election are acting very very stupidly. If they were to put up a moderate dem they would win in a landslide. Instead their top 2 candidates are far far left libs, one a woman and another a black man whose name rhymes with Osama. Which comes to my next point, some americans, esp in middle america, are not ok with either of those. I am not saying its ok, but its just a fact of politics.

If the Democrats nominate Hillary, they believe that Republicans, conservatives, many independents, and even some Democrats will go to the poll in droves just to vote against her. It's not about the Republican candidate winning, it's about Hillary not winning.
I'm not saying I agree with that but I think that's what they think.

OMG,,
Who wants socialized medicine? Not the majority of people. Just because you have a group of loud mouthed socialists screaming, does not mean they represent the majority of people.
Everyone wants our troops out of Iraq, but many of us understand the necessary evil of this war. Again, just because you have a group of loud mouthed anti-war activists on your block, does not mean the majority of our country feels this way.
While you are looking at the polls, and determining you can pinpoint exactly what they mean, explain to me why the democrat's congress has a lower rating than Bush.
Regarding the Congressional victory for democrats; The republicans were not doing what they should have been doing, and the people got ticked off. If you look at the new democrats in office, you will see they are conservative democrats, they are not socialists. There are no new "nancy pelosis" or "harry reids" that were elected.
Get a grip on reality.

1) Democrats in Washington are less popular than Bush is.
2) Democrats once again don't have a decent candidate running.
3) Despite what you say... Americans do not want to see our healthcare system destroyed by socialism. They don't want to surrender to Al Qaeda. And Democrats can be trusted even less than Republicans...

Because of ridiculous, over-confident, people like you who seriously have a problem with reality. Do you really think a polarizing figure like Hillary Clinton will just cake walk to the white house? Anyone with half a brain knows if the Dems think she is their best chance, (and the news, media, and polls seem to indicate this) then you might as well get used to another republican in office. Are you really this naive?

Pretty damn ignorant.
It is a long way to election and your front runner Hillary was just voted as the coldest candidate running for election. I don't know for sure but that isn't a great vote to win. Democrats may look good now bud because there is no orginal thought going on now, political speechs are a load of crap nowadays and everyone running agrees with the guy next to him but we'll see how everyone feels after General Petraeus's address about the current wartime efforts and once the primarys are decided and the real policy debates start to see how well the Democrats stand up.
Liberals - Blame everything you can on the other guy and rationalize what you can't.
