No. Actually S.Korean companies are paying tons of money for the patents which Japan hold in electronics and carmaking industry.
e.g. Japan hold lots of display control patents for TV. This is why consumer notice flicker in screen after they bought cheap Korean TV (they don't notice in the shop. cos DVD are play backed.). Ship is 50 year old technology for Japan.
You would be surprised if you knew how many patents Japan hold in the cutting-edge technologies in the world, including material technology. I remember it was nearly 30 times of S.Koreans'.
And the sense of design for Cell phones, fashions, and cars are also better (You know the magazines sold in S.Korea).
I think Singapore advanced enough in Asia (and good relation with Japan already).

Do you know when Asian financial crisis came in 1997, S.Korea had to file bankruptcy as a nation. They called for help and they were under IMF's control for several years.
Contrastingly the damage of Japan and Singapore were not so big.

I don't think so. A rising tide lifts all boats. The demand for ships these is so strong that both Korean and Japanese yards have full order books. The car industry is so internationalized these days that it doesn't really matter if the bits and pieces come from the ROK, Mexico or wherever. It's the brand identity that matters. With consumer electronics Japanese firms already conceded the low end of the market years ago. It's the deflationary pressure from the PRC that probably concerns Japan more.

interms of GDP , singapore has the highest in asia (high tax , not much used since its a small country).

i believe china is more of a threat not only to japan but also to the world. Korea has a very small market and korea still depends on japan on most of its technology. In 30 years no doubt china will be the top economy in asia outrunning japan

Korea is on the rise. However, the Koreans arent that big of threat to the Japanese compare to China. The Chinese is the main opponent that the Japanese are worrying about. If you have been following news recently, then you should have noticed Japan just invested billions of dollar on India. I believe Japan and India are forming an alliance to counteract China in the southeast Asia region.

I never heard that Japan people are worried about the Koreans. The only thing between us these days is the dispute over the island of Dokdo.

I don't think so. Generally the attitude here is about taking things in stride, and accepting of others. That said, competition is always a good thing and if Japan takes notice, they won't be intimidated but they'll be as competitive as ever. Peaceful, but proud.

You're joking, right? Japan is second only to the US in terms of income. South Korea isn't even in the same ballpark...
