Possibly from using soap to clean them and not getting it off all the way?

To get your white rubber soles white again, try using white-wall cleaner (designed for tires). Follow the package directions for cleaning tires. You could also try ice skate cleaner that you can purchase from a sporting goods shop. :)

I've used plain white toothpaste with an old toothbrush. I've also used liquid automatic dishwasher detergent, that worked really well. Just apply it with the brush, a small area at a time, let it sit for a few minutes and wipe it off with a wet cloth. Good luck!!

if it's on the sole i don't worry about cleaning it bcse nobody sees the bottom of my shoes lol

try a mr clean magic eraser or if it's not leather or suede- toss it in the washing machine.
