Any place you see the sign "Low Water Crossing" and a depth gauge. That's a prime indicator.
My wife and I were in San Antonio during the last week in June. It was an "old home week" to me and a first time for her. We were driving on West Avenue between Bitters and Nakoma. I'd forgotten about the low water crossing where that little creek crosses from Walker Ranch park. We made it through the first time to find out that SAPD had blocked traffic at Nakoma, so I had to go back THROUGH the water. It was a foot deep at the highest part, but somehow we made it.
There are a lot of low water crossings in SA.

There are low water crossings throughout the city. If we get a heavy enough rain there will be some water in most of the low water crossings. They are usually well marked and there is a depth guage at the deepest part. Just use caution when driving during flash flood watches and never drive around road blocks.

Any low lying area. San Antonio is in a valley, so before you buy or rent ask if where you are located is situated near a flood zone. The worst is anything along the Salado Creek.

I agree with number one but I will also tell you that as little as 12 inches of running water can and does wash away cars. We have people that were born and raised here and know better, but loose their lives every time we have a good rain fall, my best advice to you is if you don't know it and you see water that doesn't look like it belongs there wait and watch other cars cross it and then if you see that the water is pretty high turn around and find another way, it might be a minute longer but your life is worth more than a minute or two.
