I go from feeling completely hopeless and depressed to feeling hyper and happy with my life. Each feeling will last for a couple of days, with periods of gray in between. Is this normal for someone in their late teens?

By the way - I've seen a psychologist in the past, and I will again if I need to, but I wanted to get some input first.

This has been going on for a while, and I was depressed before that.

I agree with art_flood,
this sounds like what happens to people who have bipolar but usually bipolar is more of a drastic jump from one extreme to the other and you have noticed the change so youre thoughts are forming to function correctly!
A good idea before you go to the Psychologist might be to keep a record, a little diary type thing and record why your happy with your life and hyper on those days and why you feel hopeless and depressed on the other days and note what thhings you have done differently that may be causing the change (eg. friend/relationship drama's, excersize routine, accomplishments, intake of food/drink etc) Things that may have an affect.
It may be a very mild case of bipolar or it could be because of things that are going on in your life that unknowingly effect you.

Your symptoms sound bipolar - I would speak to your Dr about your wide mood swings - there are a lot of different therapies out there and they don't all have to involve medication. But get help for it - it's important to feel balanced in your life.

i think u might have cyclothymia,it may also be normal in late teens. depends if you are having problems because of this and sub optimal output, relationship problems, most probably u have cyclothymia.it is not so uncommon.and u may have to goto a psychiatrist.
does anyone in your family have major depresive disease or bipolar disorder?
u can goto wikepidia.org and read about cyclothymia there.
hope this helps.

I think that everyone has those kind of days, But honestly i think that if you are getting those everyday then i think that you should consider seeing another person for your problems, And maybe this could be a sign of bipolar?

you seem fine - if you were really bipolar you probably would be quite unaware of quite a bit.
you are more functional than that.

personally you probably should exercise, make sure you get sleep - get good nutrition - the basics
