I dont want to take a whold ambien becuase I dont want a dependency. I should say I am on chemotherapy drugs as well which administer steroids to keep the nausea down. I figure the ambien had a greater chance of having a depencendy than red wine. What do you think? Age 53, male, light drinker.

sounds good to me. just keep it to under a bottle. and no... it wont kill you.

also, with only half an ambien, expect your sleeping pill to wear off sooner as it is a time release thing. with half the pill and you opening it up, you may find yourself wide awake 3 hours before you want to be.

move to cali, smoke a bowl (helps with the nausea and wont keep you up... and its legal here), drink a glass of wine... and nothing but the best of wishes in your fight.

I think you need to follow the directions and restrictions that came with your script. I'm pretty sure "Do not take with alcohol" is on there. This is a question for your doctor or pharmacist, not us.

P.S.- Ambien is very powerful even in a healthy person 20+ years younger like myself. I took it before, and woke up in the middle of my stairase, with no idea how I got there. It's nothing to mess around with.

No, no, no! Maybe you should try the wine instead of the ambien. While we're talking about Ambien, maybe we should talk about smoke alarms. Make sure you have a really loud one. That stuff is crazy strong.

Why are you asking this question on here and not asking the doctor who prescribed you the Ambien and know your medical history???

Yes, it is dangerous and doesn't always work. A revolver to the head is more likely to work better than sleeping pills.

Ask your doctor, not us.

One of my relatives was told he could drink a little with his psychiatric meds, so it depends on your doctor & your specific body.

I want you to call the pharmacist, and tell him/her exactly what you wrote in your question. Pharmacists are so smart. Good luck with everything! :)
