how do his experiences in America affect his years in Ireland?

Im not exactly what you are asking from your question, but Mr. Mc Court is what you call a raconteur - a great story teller - as so many Irish are. If you have ever been to Ireland, they are warm and open people who love to sit in pubs and talk to others, exchanging stories. Frank Mc Court very much brings that Irish raconteur style to what he writes. He brings Ireland alive for his readers. He teaches a lot of workshops and classes at writers conferences on the art of memoir writing and I am told his classes are not to be missed. I hope that is what you were looking for. Pax- C

As a child Frank McCourt was only in America until he was 3 or 4 years old, and the only effect that had on him when they moved back to Ireland was to give him a "Yank" accent for a while, which caused torment, and so was quickly dropped.
Do I undertand your question?
