I'm looking for someone mythical, magical, and just like the Harry Potter Series. I'm HEARTBROKEN! I haven't finished the last book yet, but I'm sooo upset because I don' t want it to end. The how horcrux things really cool, and the creatures they fit into the series. I'm looking for another book like that, I've thought about Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia, are there any others. I also enjoyed exploration stories like Indiana Jones type and The Princess' Bride, Willow, and stuff. Any books like that?

"The Five Children and It" by E. Nesbit (a great author on many levels)
"Half Magic" by Edward Eager (starts a great series, as I recall)
"The Hobbit" by Tolkien (exploration, magic, adventure)
"Zorro" by Isabel Allende (tho' I'm not finished so can't be sure)

Well, there's Percy Jackson and the Olympian Series by Rick Riordan. The first book is the Lightning Theif. And even though it's for a younger age group, I still really enjoyed it. It's also a bit similar to Harry Potter, but instead of magic, it's has Greek Mythology. It was better than I thought, and i'm glad that I took the time to check it out of the library.
I'm sad that the Harry Potter series is over, but hey, there are more great books out there if you search hard enough!

I'm sorry to say this, but you pretty much listed any book that bears a resemblance to the Harry Potter series that is actually worth reading and not another johnny-come-lately rip off of Rowling's series.

There is an author named David Eddings. He writes just the type of thing you will love, and often in a series. I read him almost 10 years ago and wasn't able to put the books down until I read each one start to finish. He's amazing and blissfully prolific!

Why not try Roger Zelazney's Amber Chronicles? They are a little more sophisticated than Harry Potter and you might enjoy them. All ten volumes come in one oversized softcover book now. Pax- C

There is an awesome website called Life After Harry. It gives a complete list of all the top fantasy novels in order of which they think are the best, as well as reader's choice, and even a brief description of each one so you know what they are about.
