I got this neat tea maker which I just love. It is pretty much the same as a coffee pot so I will assume you can clean it in the same way. I was the pitcher itself normally but the little cup thing that holds the tea (or coffee grounds) is filthy and stained and just refuses to come clean. Any help?

I am lucky, my new coffee maker that part is detachable for cleaning. Just run vinegar through the maker. Does it have a "brew stop" function? If so, pull out the pot so the basket holds the hot vinegar.

Run a few clean water cycles afterwards.

How To Clean A Coffee Maker With Baking Soda

Brew a pot of plain white vinegar. You fill the glass pot or container with vinegar, pour into the water chamber and brew it. No filter necessary of course. Chances are you will need to do this a couple of times. Then brew plain water to rinse. You should be able to taste the difference in the coffee. Make sure to clean all parts of the coffee maker that can be taken out, the carafe, the filter basket, wipe off the hot plate bottom and outside, clean the inside of the coffee maker lid. Works well, removes hard water build up.

Try soaking it in white vinegar, for 20 minutes and add some dish detergent and clean with a sponge or cloth. Rinse and put 1/4th cup of vinegar into it and make coffee without the putting coffee in it, just the vinegar. After its done rinse again and make coffee again with just the water. to rinse the whole pot.

Buy a Braun coffee maker. Consumer Reports says it is a best buy. It's only $20. I have one and makes superior coffee. And when it doesn't, I can throw it out and buy another. It's easy to clean, everything goes in the dishwasher. and I run vinegar water through once every two weeks. BTW, America's Test Kitchen rated Starbucks coffee best coffee. Full Arabica beans.

The way I clean mine is baking soda and vinegar I put the baking soda in then the vinegar let it foam then I take a tooth brush to it. I have also used tooth paste that whitens when i was out of baking soda or vinegar. I know it sounds silly but it woked. After you rinse it well i run 2-3 cycles of just water through.

Pour one pint of white vinegar into the water space and then turn it on to go through the whole cycle. Run it again with plain water to get rid of the vinegar smell and taste. I usually rinse mine twice.

Try soaking it for a couple of hours in hot water with a denture tablet (or two), dissolved in the water.
