What about Sandy Alomar, Julio Franco, and Omar Visquel? Oh and Orel Hershier?

Belle had to quit playing due to degenerative arthritis in one of his hips. He didn't officially retire until after his last contract expired, so (a) he could keep collecting $ and (b) his team could keep collecting contract insurance. It is the way of such things.

Sandy Alomar Jr. (I presume) has caught a few games for the Mets this season, but mostly has been at AAA level.

Julio Franco got dumped by the Mets, picked up by the Braves, designated for assignment, sent down to the minors, and called back up last week when the rosters expanded. I cannot see him playing again in 2008, but stranger things have happened.

Omar Vizquel is still playing, with the Giants.

Sadaharu Oh is currently managing the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks in Japan, where he continues to be revered.

Orel Hershiser is retired and announcing for one of the nets.

Albert Belle retired in 2000. He hit a homerun in his last at bat on October 1, 2000. He recently did a 90 day stint in jail for stalking some woman.

Sandy Alomar Jr. is currently on the Mets, still catching at 41 years of age. He was in AAA for most of the season, but after Paul LoDuca and Ramon Castro got hurt, he came up and got a lot of work. They are still carrying him on their roster. If you really meant Sandy Alomar Sr., he is the 3rd base coach on the Mets along with his son, Sandy Jr.

Julio Franco started the year with the Mets, and was released by them to create a spot for Lastings Milledge. He re-signed with the Braves team he was on for a while. He contributed for a short time there in the majors, got sent down to the minors in a player/coach type role, and then was recently recalled to Atlanta a week or two ago.

Omar Vizquel is the starting shortstop of the Giants, and he doesn't look to be going anywhere anytime soon.

Orel Hershisher became the pitching coach of the Rangers a few years ago, but he was fired along with Buck Showalter. He came to a contract agreement with ESPN to become an analyst in the broadcast booth for Major League and Little League World Series games, and become an analyst on the Baseball Tonight set.
