Belvedere. Yesterday I was at a place and I was telling my mom that i was gonna name my kid Joshua Belvedere (whatever my last name will be) and this lady we didn't even know busted out laughing. I didn't think it was funny

Well I have to admit it reminds me of the show where the butler was Mr. Belvedere. It does sound kind of funny but it's your baby and you can name it whatever you want.

Sorry but that is a pretty stupid middle name. It is a last name and it has bad 80's sitcom affiliations. Wouldn't that be funny if you ended up marrying a guy with the last name Belvedere and your baby's name was Joshua Belvedere Belvedere. Haha.

I'm sorry if I have to say that is weird name. Better you change Joshua Belvedere with Joshua Boulevaire, but you have to see the last name. For Joshua, I think the good middle names are:
Octavius
Augustian
Ernestine
Estevan
Gabrielle
Ignatius
Kelly
Kennedy
Maxwell
Marion, or
Sullivan. : - )

You should name your baby WHATEVER you want!!!
BUT... I do have to say that Belvedere is a kind of corny name in my opinion. But you know what--- I love the name Penelope, and I get made fun of all the time for it. So don't worry about what other people think. Instead, put it on your "name list" and think about it. When you have your baby, look him in the eyes and say "What do you think of mommy naming you Joshua Belvedere ______" If he giggles, go with it. If he poops on you, its time to pick a new name!!

Also, are you aware that there was a TV show with a butler named "Mr. Belvedere"?
You might want to watch a few episodes.

There used to be a show called Mr. Belvedere which was very popular and funny in the 80's. I think you will get similar reactions from other people. If this bothers you you should go with something else. If not, I don't think it sounds bad.

When I think of Belvedere I think of the show. I don't like it. He most likely will get made fun of. It does sound like a last name.

Names go in & out of fashion all the time.
Honestly, I don't like the name. But hey, a lot of people don't like MY name. That's why I hated it as a kid & went by a shortened nickname. But now I like it very much; it's a classic, and my son will be a Jr.
Go ahead, if he won't like it later, he can call himself Joshua. But who knows, some girl may find it romantic later on. (that's what happened to me, actually. Now i always emphasize my given name when I introduce myself. Also now the girl's my wife)

Hmmm.any paticular reason you picked belvedere? Unless it's in honor of a lost loved one, I would seriously consider an alternate..it's just one of those names that's akward, kinda dorky, and yes, makes people chuckle just when they hear it

it makes me think of a butler.... the show from like the late 80's i think called mr. belvedere
i would probably not have laughed but thought to myself "she is gonna name her kid that?" I could see people doing as that lady did when hearing his name
personally i think it is aweful for a middle name
