So you solve everything in the || first.
|9|-|11-8| =
|9|-|-3|
Then you change all the numbers in the || to positive (the aboslute value is just the positive value)
so |9| is equal to 9 (|-9| would also be equal to 9)
and |-3| is equal to 3.
Leave any signs outside of the || alone. So
|9|-|-3|=
9-3=
