w3c standards are suggesting that you know almost every language and markup language in order to be a web developer ? why ? I mean i have seen jobs where they ask for html writers or dreamweaver and flash designers ? does w3c school think that everyone can really master all those languages ? or is it just saying you should be familiar with them all ? Im not plannin on learning php, but i will try to learn how to implement it at least ? but mysql requires php of some sorts so im kinda confused ?

you willl need to have a moderate understanding of them all, because most sites are a mix of html, php, java and flash(the good ones anyway!). but i mean its not that hard takes a few years to master them all... but it willl eventually come to you.
just learn html. then java, then php, then flash, then asp.. by doing this youll know them all and be able to rememmber the important bits.

W3C is an international consortium. They are working to develop Web standards. I think W3C is here to maintain a Web Standards which all providers like Microsoft, Adobe, and so (Not the developer) will follow in their processing of the technologies.

Knowing what they are used for in a larger theoretical sense is good enough; then you can put together your own study trail of which languages and what order to study them..
