Since you reinstalled Windows you need to install all the drivers for your modem, computer/motherboard; video card; sound card; network card; printer; scanner; mouse; web cam; etc.

To find drivers:
Google the manufacturer's name and go to the manufacturer's site for you computer/motherboard; video card; sound card; network card; printer; scanner; mouse; web cam; etc. Each site will have a support section to find the latest drivers and download them. You will need to know the make and model number. If you do not know the make and model number run Belarc Advisor and look in Windows Device Manager.

Most of the times after reinstalling the operating system...windows does not play audi or display the screen resilution this happens if the native drivers provided by windows are not compatible wtih the sound card that you have n the computer...so tyr reinstalling the drivers herez how you do it

Right click on my computer...click on properties...click on hardware---devicemanager---under siund video and game controllers you should see your sound card listed if it has an Yello color exclamation(!) mark or a red (X) mark this means that the device is not installed properly...right clickon the device and click on install drivers..you might want to put the sound card drivers disk or download the drivers from the manufacturers web site...you should be all set once this is done

You need to install the audio driver..

It is AC' 97 (Most probably).. Just install the audio driver & it would be working again..

You can check all your driver (If they are functionaing) by :

Right click the "My Computer" icon and choosing manage

Then choose "Device Manager" from the left pane..

Then a list of your devices+drivers appear on the right pane, the ones with a yellow question mark require drivers. If you don't see a yellow question mark, then that means that you have all the drivers installed..

Hope this helps & good luck,

If your audio drivers were not installed when you installed windows you should assume that all your mother board drivers and your video drivers installation are in question. Go to your mother boards mfgr's web site and down load all the updated drivers(specific to your mother board and your operating system) and install them per their instructions. Then set a restore point and use your automated system recovery tool to make a back up that will easily be cleanly installed if the need ever arises.

you have to install the audio drivers after reinstalling windows. if it is an integrated sound, it should be in your motherboard cd or just look up your motherboard's website. if it is an add-on card, there should also be a cd with it or again look up for your card's manufacturer's website

Do you have a sound card? Also check the speakers just in case, that may sound dumb, I know you probably already checked that, but just in case.
