We were both remembering an ending NOT where the two boys or THE boy walks down the street, back to young again.
This other ending was where she is a new student in school, he spots her and just knows and we all just KNOW it's her.
WAS that an alternate ending to Big? And if not, what WAS it?

The American release definitely ends with the two boys walking up their street. But as I understand it, a version for overseas release or overseas TV showings, I think Australia, shows the alternate ending you describe. A young girl - the Elizabeth Perkins character who has wished she was young - is in Josh's school class.
I don't know why exactly the different ending was used, and in only a limited market. Perhaps IMDb or Wikipedia could tell you more. But no, you're not nuts!
