I have a Honda Passport and was recently told that my rear axel seal is leaking. I have to take a trip tomorrow that will be all day and driving about 800 miles. What can happen while I am driving or to my vehicle? Please answer honestly and accuratly.

If it's not a bad leak you will probably be ok i'm assuming your talking about the differential housing leaking. wouldn't hurt to check the fluid level. should have a plug in it little over halfway up on the rear cover. pull the plug and if fluid is right there you'll be ok

Did you check under the rear wheel, is it leaking? If it is leaking.... do not drive until you get the seals replaced. I did this on my classic car.

Rear diff fluid is getting past the inner seal and washing out the grease in the bearing, then getting past the outer seal and leaking out onto the ground...

The bad..... the rear diff oil washed away the bearing grease.... bad for the bearing....so now your running a dry bearing only lubricated by diff oil.... not the right lube.

You need to pull the axel out, then outer seal, then bearing, then inner seal, replace all, repack the bearing with axel grease..... it can be done in a couple hours....

If the oil is leaking from the differential only and it is a drip of a couple drops you can drive on that. but a leak from the wheel seal at the wheel I wouldnt drive it, you will get all that oil in the brakes as well.

A leaking seal could indicate a bearing failing. I would get it fixed now. 800 miles is a long way to wonder if it's going to fail. A leaking seal can and probably will allow oil in your rear brakes. If they are drum brakes they will lock up when applied. Get it fixed. Should be about a two hour job to a good wrench.
