Considering buying one in Florida but I'm not sure it's worth it coz you only get 2 weeks out of the year. And you don't have the same one all the time where you could leave your stuff there. I don't know. Any experiences, thoughts on this?

i think timeshares work best if you have a VERY regular schedule and you know every year exactly when you will be taking vacation, so that you can plan WAY in advance--the reservations fill up fast and unless you are very flexible and don't care where you go, you won't get what you want. they do have some fun 'free' weeks and stuff that are more last second, but i find that, generally, if you are a last second kind of person about your vacations, it's not a good idea.

I have one and I like it. Mine is different though as its based on points instead of weeks. Each year I get a certain amount of points, for a stay each day is worth a certain amount of points which is added up and the total is subtracted from your amount of points. I prefer this because I am not limited to a specific week or location, as long as I have the points to cover it I can stay there. Also they allow you to use your points toward cruises and escorted tours, so I'm not limited to just timeshare properties. Also with mine I own it so I can deed it to my children, some you buy only for a specific amount of time. There are so many different timeshare companies and each work differently. I would suggest you really research it and attend timeshare presentations of various companies before deciding on one. Also it is possible to buy a timeshare at a discounted price by going through a resale site, such as timesharesonly.com

I think it is best to buy a time share if you know you are going to use it on a fairly regular basis and you won't find it a nuisance to return to it to take care of it.

Buy a spring break week in a popular beach area.
If you don't want to use it, you should be able to rent it for a profit.

Here is an example in Miami Beach:

If you decide to just rent instead, check out this site:
