"happily committed"? don't know as those two are compatible words. But there can indeed be loneliness in any relationship, we each of us live inside our own skulls and are essentially alone all our lives, some loneliness is going to creep in along the way if you are not comfortable with being alone.

Happily committed relationship has little to do with whether sometimes one is lonely. One may be lonely in the middle of a crowd, or even in bed with your lover. No one is sane AND happy 24/7

Of course, my hubby travels alto with the job, because I love him and in a committed relationship, I am lonely when he is gone

Oh yeah. My hubby really does not like to do much anymore since the kids have come along. It is hard for him and would rather go alone -leaving me alone.
I suppose when the kids get bigger, and more self-sufficient, it will change a bit. Hopefully for the better.

Yes, but if you are, you have to ask yourself, "Am I lonely only because I am away from my beloved, or is it because I don't have much of a life without him/her?" If it is because of the latter, then you need to have a life of your own outside of your beloved's, then you will bring more to the relationship.
