The Who were the best....much like The Damned several years later!!! To me they were great but never got the credit they deserved!!!

The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Animals, The Yardbirds, The Kinks, The Zombies, The Hollies, The Searchers, Manfred Mann, The Dave Clark Five, Gerry and the Pacemakers, The Troggs, Peter and Gordon, Chad and Jeremy, The Move, The Spencer Davis Group, The Honeycombs, The Small Faces, The Moody Blues, Wayne Fontana and the Mindbenders, and Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames, to name a few.

Other than the Big Four, my favorite band is the Animals. I really love "The House of the Rising Sun." Eric Burdon is probably one of my favorite singers ever. I believe he is still touring, but with the New Animals, rather than the original ones.

The Beatles. They were simple, melodic, great lyricists, and overall just extraordinary. Each one of them was good in a way, Lennon with lyrics and singing, McCartney with the bass and creating simple but surprisingly good melodies, Harrison with the guitar and his solos, and Starr with his unique drumming. It's no surprise why they're constantly named one of the greatest.
Then would come The Who, but I've been more interested in the Rolling Stones nowadays. The Kinks fall last of the "big four", but they're still good.
