Keith Whitley. He died in 1989 at the young age of 34 years old due to alcohol poisoning. What a shame. He and Lorrie were only married 2 1/2 years. I still love Keith's music and sound, his duet with Earl Thomas Conley called "Brotherly Love" is one of my favorites.

I think there are a few reasons for this. Killing off a main character is a very big move in a TV series or movie. Because she is a main character, the audience isn't going to expect her to be killed because she plays such a significant role in the story. Writers occasionally have to kill off a main character to keep the suspense and initiate a shock factor in the audience. Lori dies in the comic series that the show is based off of. I've never read the comics but I do know that she dies at some point and of different causes. The writers want to mix things up by killing some people and leaving others. The ones that they kill who die in the books, they seem to be killing differently from what I've heard. Lori was an unpopular character among the general audience. Many viewers wanted her to die. The writers knew they made a bad move with Dale because his death was received VERY negatively. So they knew they had to tread carefully with killing off their next main character. The writer wants to challenge Rick's mental health and his role as a father. The audience will get to see how he reacts. Rick will either accept Lori's death and continue his life as a widow and single father, or this will break him. My guess is that it will break him because he both loves and hates Lori. I think he will step up and raise the baby as a single father, but I think he's going to have a hard time with that because he will never know if that baby is even his or if it's Shane's. And it's not like he'll really be able to tell because look how alike Shane and Rick are in appearance so it's unlikely that that baby will have any defining features from her father. If Lori were left alive, Rick could easily pull away from the baby, but now he can't as he's the only parent it has. I was so sad at the end when Rick broke down crying!! I don't blame him at all! I hated Lori because of what she did to him. Rick didn't deserve that. That poor man has been through way too much and this is horrible! But at least he's got a beautiful little baby to raise now. I just hope that his son or daughter keeps him going, like how Hershel keeps going because of Maggie and Beth. And yes, there is going to be a Season 4. I think they have 7 seasons total planned so far.
