Yes, he should. I think it's too expensive for ND to get rid of him, because he signed a 10yr contract.

Weis still has too many credentials.....if he has two or more crappy seasons, with no sign of improvement in the future ( like Ty), then he could be in trouble.
Charlie might be learning a valuable object lesson in the difference between a coordiantor and a head coach.
I believe he can still scheme with the best, but until he figures out recruiting better (always target the lineman.....No O-line, no O-ffense), he will have trouble implementing anything.
He will get til the end of the season, to see if the team starts to gel, before he gets any serious heat...for a number of reasons (including financial).
Contrary to some of the posts...the defense played a very solid first half, and was bringing all kinds of pressure....but they were on the field for over 40 minutes, and any defense will get wore out.
That though might be the only hi point for their season. Joe Montana couldn't get it done behind that O-line.
No one can honestly say if any of the QBs, Wrs or RBs are any good, because none ever had a chance. The moment the ball was snapped, the backfield was full of GT guys. (they have a very good D, but ND also has a horrid O-line....no excuses)

Give him a break, even though I thought he got outcoached and gameplanned the wrong way for the Georgia Tech game. How do you go all spring and summer preparing for the first game and that is all you can come up with? It looked like a high school offense, except worse. I would have cut that quarterback after that game. Personally, I would have started Sharpley for this game, because I think that Clausen stares at his receivers too much. I think they will play better this game. Maybe they won't win, but it will be more competitive. Hopefully they solved the offensive line problem for this game, because the jury is out on them now, blitz Notre Dame cause they can't throw. Plus he had some midget receivers out there, we went from six foot five guys to five foot eight and ten.
They are very young, but I think they have some better talent than in past years in certain positions, they just have to put it together.
I'm giving Weis a break this year, he'll figure it out sooner or later, hopefully beat USC. I'm tired of losing to them.

I am absolutely NOT a ND homer here.. and I'll say no.. I don't think they should have fired Willingham either and here's why.. recruits.. Willingham was getting players.. he just didn't get to make it til they were good (last years team were Willingham recruits).. Weis had a good class last year and eventually (after getting beat down for a year or two) Claussen will be solid.. but he's trying to build a program.. that takes time and a few lumps.. so "patience" don't be like Alabama lol.. I do think he needs to address the defensive coaching and the style of players they target to recruit.. it was painfully obvious last year they were not ready for the speed coming out of the SEC (same for OSU though).. so a complete overhaul of defensive philosophy may be required and then ND can be more than a joke in college football.. hey we might not even be able to say they are overrated lmao

No chance he gets fired.
Everyone expects them to win only 4-5 games this year, anyways. He has a whole new team.
Willingham had 3 chances and his recruits weren't getting any better.

Firing Charlie Weis would be a mistake. Just like firing Ty Willingham was a mistake.

No! he needs to just run the ball more than pass, and he needs a new cornerback coach along with a defensive coach.
