The other day I was having some herbal therapy and I came up with idea of satellite billboards. In other words, advertisments in space that you can see from earth. I thought the idea would be terrible but it wouldn't surprise me if it happened. Airborne ads aren't unprecedented. Think about the Goodyear blimp or those planes that fly around with banners attached to their tails.

Anyway, assuming creating them would be feasible, what do you think about the idea of satellite billboards?

We have enough junk in near orbit now, we don't need more. In addition, the cost to get such up there would be extremely high. Then there is the danger of meteorite damage, and the solar wind blowing these huge sails out of orbit.

One thing I really miss about Vermont is there are no freakin' billboards. I see so many here and I want to bulldoze them all down. Ones in outerspace, would really suck.

I can't see how they would work...Satellites are not very big and they're pretty high up. Sometimes you can see them at night; they're the size of stars.

I would SO be against it!

The view of the night sky is already ruined for many of us thanks to light pollution from cities. Why ruin it even more with something as tacky as that?
