Only if he stays healthy, he can be a threat from the outside. He is a far better 3 point shooter than Damon Jones, and if he can play solid for 15-20 minutes off the bench, he will help Lebron spread the floor. However, He is not the ultimate solution to the main problem the Cavs are facing; point guard. Jeff McInnis was a very solid Point Guard for the Cavs some 2 seasons ago. Too bad the things didnt work out for him as they should have.
Let me say something that others aren't probably thinking; should the Rockets buy out Rafer Alston's contract, the Cavs should try to acquire him. They have Mike James now, and given Alston's recent legal troubles, don't be surprized if he is boughtout. He is a very good point guard when he wants to be. There have been rumors about him being swapped for Drew Gooden. But then again, that is only if Alston is not behind the bars.

It is worth a shot. The enviroment is right for Allan Houston in Cleveland. If he comes off the bench he can average 8-12 ppg. Coming off the bench would alleviate injury prone Hughes and take the pressure off the young Daniel Gibson.
They need to sign someone. They have 5 roster spots open. If Houston gets the vet minimum they will still be under the luxury tax, thus no breaking the small market team. Of course letting Bozer walk and refusing to throw more money at Redd indicates that Ferry is out of touch. Resigning defensive liability Ilgauskus instead proves that he is a horrible GM. Getting LeBron to lengthen his contract was brilliant but Bosh, Wade, and Melo did the same thing because the popularity of the league is dwindling. Thus gaining less revenue for the teams.....It's late and this is too long

If Houston can put up buckets like he used to he'd be a very nice fit for Cleveland. However, I don't see Houston being even 3/4 as good as he was. Cleveland needs to think more about getting a point guard. Someone who can shoot and pass. Instead of Eric Snow, who does nothing, and Damon Jones who just shoots threes.

He is just another washed up former star hoping to catch on with a team and earn a nice salary for playing a few minutes a night, if that. Having guys like Houson and Reggie Miller actually think about playing again really shows the lack of good players that can fit into a small role for clubs.
And I used to think the NBA was home to the best athletes in pro sports....now, it is the best place to a start a Senior's Tour. The Cavs need players who can run the floor, not ones who are out of breath after a fast walk to the door of their home to get the mail immediately after it's delivered.

Allan Houston should just stay retired. He won't fit in Cleveland. He is only a shooter and nothing else. I don't think he can be able to help.

With James slashing into the lane every time, Houston should be able to get some free shots. He woulf make a good backup.
But no matter what the Cavs do, the Celtics with own everyone in the East.

Probably off the bench as a backup. He has experience and leadership. He is 11th on the list of 3-point shots taken with a career 3 pt FG avg. of .402. Having another shooter on the team could help the Cavs.
He has arthritic knees which helped fast forward his retirement.
Hey, if he is cheap and the Cavs have a spot then why not give him a shot?

The guy who used to play for the Knicks ? I thought he disappeared. Allan Houston was a ball hog. Passing was something he did with water. Rebounding and defense were for the other people. CLEV may be on the verge of a dynasty. They need to improve in one or two places and they could join the league's elite. How is picking up this guy going to help get them there ? Unless this is one of those tongue-in-cheek questions to see if anyone will bite. Well, I bit.

cleveland shouldn't go for him because they need a point guard not an old shooting guard. Houston would be an ok back-up if the cavs can get him for cheap. he may not ever want to play for them.
