I listen to heavy metal, progressive, rap and alternative, but I still like the Carpenters. It is a guilty pleasure I admit.

karen was one lean mean crooner and those dresses bordered on the insane but I have to admit I got into some of their songs. They made me feel kind of syruppy. I would have paid to see her go ballistic on those drums just once - now that would have been cool.

it's nothing wrong listening to Carpenters even though u listen to heavy metal and other stuff. I'd rather say rap is not cool but that's just my perception. Do whatever u like. That's cool enough.

Maybe 30 years ago. Nowadays most people would just say "Who are the Carpenters?" The only thing that you can do with music that isn't cool is to be ashamed of what you like and let other people define your tastes for you.

Karen Carpenter had one of the "purest" voices of any female singer in history so NO, it is Not "uncool" to listen to The Carpenters.

Everyone has something like that, so when people give you a hard time about liking the Carpenters, then you should say something like, "Oh yea, well, you probably like the Spice Girls."
