So Is it ok to throw a shower if the older child is 6. Having no baby things kinda qualifies a baby shower right? Some say no but if you dont have anything whatever can you do. A lunch-in after baby cant happen if you dont have anything?

Throw it! The worst that could happen is a few "jerks" might complain, and so what if they complain and don't come, who wants them there anyway? They'd be the same people complaining about something else..

I can't imagine what the age of the older child has to do with having a baby shower for the second child, until the second child is 4 or something like that. The only thing that qualifies for having a baby shower is having a baby - by birth or adoption or whatever. I think it would be kind of nice to have new pet showers, too. :-)

Of course you can throw a shower for your friend.

I attended a fun shower recently where the expectant mom had been very generous with her first baby's clothes and stuff, so her sister throwing the party invited everyone to a "Bring Back My Hand-me-downs Baby Shower". First, it was fun to see what items that were once hers came back, and she got some great new stuff too.

I have a 9 year old girl, a 4 year old boy and am 32 weeks pregnant now with my last one, and it's a girl. Reality is in most cases when there is years between the kids, we have got rid of everything, especially if they are different sex's. I am having (or they are for me) Baby shower this sunday, and its my 3 child. YOUR FINE, relax and enjoy the 'showering'

I think you should throw a shower!!! Especially if your older child is 6 yrs old. You need new stuff for the new baby! I will definantely have another baby shower if I have another baby.

absolutely...every pregnant woman should have a baby shower no matter how many kids she has. the only thing i would suggest to you though is that you include her 6 year old in the event as much as you can and don't forget to give the older child a small gift too. hope this helps.

Shouldn't EVERY baby and mom be given a baby shower, unless of course this is like your 12th child, hahaha. I had showers for both of mine and they were only 3 years apart. Showers are to give gifts to the baby and celebrate the mom and help her out a bit. Less things to worry about more time for bonding and love. CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I had 13 yrs between my 2 so it was expected, my sister had a shower for all 3 of hers and there were only 2-3 yrs between them and by the last on very few people showed. It was too much.

You should be fine but I wouldn't think that something huge would be appropriate.

Most say no but my feeling is that when children are 5 or more years apart that a babyshower won't hurt anyone. After 5 years most have gotten rid of baby stuff and could use some help plus after 5 years there are a lot of better more safe stuff available.

actually my kids are four years and ten months apart..someone else gave me a shower for each...and i found it to be a great thing...the first was a boy the second a girl..if you want to give someone a shower then give them a shower..most people think especially if the kids are close in age its a no no..but you do what you feel is the best..

honey there is nothing wrong with throwing how ever many baby showers you want ... if you have 5 kids i still dont think there is nothing wrong with haveing a baby shower for each kid .... each child is a new beginning for you ... so that child should be just important as the first child....
