Gary, isn't that the neat part of living in a relatively free country?! I say relatively only because after 9/11, our increased security on individuals, including citizens might be tampered with, if you're suspect.
No, you don't have to support our troops (although I hope that you do), you have the right to live, die and pay taxes, just like the rest of us.
Take a close look at other countries sometimes and be happy that you also have the right to freedom of speech. :)

Americans really don't even understand the phrase "support the troops".
They think it means putting a bumper sticker on your car and throwing a beer bottle at a protester.
Actual "support" for the troops would include real sacrifice, like they used to do in this country....roll bandages, recycle metal, eat less, grow food, join the ambulance service, raise money for war bonds and petition congress for veterans' rights.
Next time you hear some blowhard talking about "supporting the troops" ask them specifically what GREAT sacrifices they are making, and ask them why they support sending young people to their deaths in a stupid, useless war rather than in worthy and moral cause.
Ask them when an American patriot had to lose his brains first to qualify.
So yeah, do something very positive for the troops or don't even USE the word "support".

They were not there for 9/11, 3,000 of them died in the surprize attack at Pearl Harbor, And the Navy and the Coast Guard were on the scene the day after Katrina struck New Orleans. What have they done for us lately? You are obviously to dense to comprehend what they do for you on a daily basis, so why waste my breath.

Give me a break, Grow up, First off get your facts straight, Troops all over the country were deployed to Katrina, 2nd, everyday of your life you should thank god you live in the U.S. and have the protection of the greatest Armed Forces in History. Third, How would like to live under Saddam rule, who gassed his own people with Mustard Gas and killed those who opposed him or under STALin who did the same or Castro, or Napoleon, or Hitler, you say you don't care if it wasn't for the Armed Forces you would be speaking a differant language, SO I CHALLENGE YOU!!!!!!!!! MOVE AND RENOUNCE YOUR U.S. CITIZENSHIP and move to IRAN, and when you get there let us all know how that works out for you, it's easy to TALK SH!t HIDDING behind a computer in your mommy's basement, but we all know you ain't got the stones to move to IRAN!!!!!!!!!!!!! As a soldier, I say grow up,

Yes, I suggest all American support the troops.
Why, primarily because these folks made a decision at some point that they want to serve their country. So for that alone, they have my respect.
What we should remember is that actively serving troops may not express themselves with regard to policies that they are asked to execute upon. So after the Col. or General gives their professional military opinion and the president makes his decision, right or wrong, it is their job to execute on that decision.
That alone gets them another notch because that requires a degree of intestinal fortitude that I respect, doing a professional job no matter what you're asked to do scores high marks in my book.
There are limits of course but I submit that alot of our troops endure far more crap than we in the civilian sector are aware of so again, they earn kudos.
However , having said that, alot of what gets done these days "in the name" of the American citizen is , in no way , shape or form, anything approaching the interest of the American citizen. Slavish support of policies in the Middle East which do not further the interest of the US citizenry or Republic but it is the decision of our president to engage in such activity.
It is NOT the responsibility of the military to correct for bad foreign policy decisions on the part of our elected representatives it's OURS. We have the responsibility to demand that our congress and senate act in accordance with our wishes.
If we the people, don't like some action the president takes, WE must act to recall the president, contact our congressmen, our senators, compel them to impeach or have the congress remove him from office if he is not performing as he has sworn to do according to the oath of office.

According to the unwritten law of the US you must support the troops or be subjected to ridicule. Americans will mock you as a traitor...in the land of the "free". You must do as they say while saying you are free to say it. Be careful as in America you are allowed to say as you please...till someone listens....and then you will suddeny get ill...have an accident, etc. This is the American way. Be proud oif your troops and live to see another day.

In one question you state that you want freedom, in another you speak against those that guarantee that freedom.
You can't have it both ways.
Thank you for taking time out of your busy day of eating corn chips in your parents basement to prove your ignorance to the masses.
