they told me maybe a weekend once in a while now it seems i am working every weekend unless i ask for it off. It is really screwing up my relationship with my boyfriend. He works during the day during the week and i work 2nd shift during the week and on the weekends sometimes. We dont get to spend hardly any time together and it is really starting to effect the relationship. I dont like not being able to spend time with him. So i dont know how to say well when you hired me you said i wasnt going to have to work weekends and then it was well once in a while and then every-other and now it is every weekend and i cant do it . I dont have the balls to say anything or i cant say it without being mean about it. So what do you think i should do?

There are so many jobs out there. Just tell the employer what you said, but ask for a moment to talk. Be brief, say " It seems I'm working a lot of weekends, and when I took this job it was weekends every once in a while" then pause and let them speak. You may have some decisions to make, but if you really like the job you may have to stay to keep it.

As I see it, you have two options. Either talk to your manager or don't. The worst they can say is, "I'm sorry but we need you to work weekends". If that's the case then your choice is to either work weekends or find another job. I know it's not as simple as that but what other choice do you have. You are going to have to decide how important it is that you have the weekends off. Is it worth the trouble of finding another job and starting over. My suggestion would be to get a job at a bank. You only work 9-5 and you get weekends and holidays off - how great is that. Most are willing to train you if you have had some kind of cash handling experience.
So, what are you going to do????
Good luck in whatever you decide!

How bad do you want this job?

Start looking for another job and meanwhile have a talk with your Supervisor and find out what is going on.

You have a right to ask being they told you no work on weekends.

Tell them you had plans on taking a class on the weekends to further your education or something.

Wasn't it stipulated in your contract or was it just a verbal arrangement of having off on weekends? Maybe you have some unaccomplished work during the week days so your boss tells you to work until weekend. Why not try to finish everything during the week and ask for a day off as the week ends? They have no reason for you not to let you go if you have nothing to do, right? Try.

Ask to switch to day shift & ask for the weekends off as well. Please put it in writing & in your employee records.
