Guilt comes after a perceived wrong in self's action. Guilt is the uncertainty for an others reaction to the wrong and its acceptance as a necessary wrong as self has immediate or objective benefit of the wrongs consequence. The other is a loved other but a feared other. But if the act was against a promise to an other but did not have immediate objective benefit but moral or ethical or imperative duty, moral or ethical obligation to an ideal or a fidelity, then that feeling of guilt is in dilemma and the dichotomy comes after the fact. If it came before the fact, then it would be anger.
