I wrestled for all four years of high school and my first year at college. Your teacher is not being a sexist, he's being a realist. In wrestling there are holds and moves that could be highly embarrassing to the boy as well as the girl. Let's be real for a moment, there are times when your faces could be pressed into areas you wouldn't want. Now if you don't mind your breasts being smashed or groped in front of an auditorium full of students and parents, go for it. If you wrestle against a boy, there are 3 types you are going to run into, one that is afraid to hurt you, one that wants to hurt you to prove your in the wrong sport, and the ones that refuse to wrestle you on their own moral grounds. Think too of the attitude of teenage boys, "You got beaten by a girl". The harassment of that boy afterwards would be humiliating beyond your understanding. If you want to wrestle, keep it separate, boys vs. boys, girls vs. girls.

personally i can see why this could be a problem. Wrestlers tend to be very close little unit. Putting a girl in the mix can screw around with the camaraderie of the crew. An on top of that, it will make other wrestlers more uncomfortable. An as a team member, that's not good for you. This is why girls are not allowed to apply for combat rolls in the military.
But this isn't war. So i say if you really want it bad enough to deal with all that, then go for it. An make sure that you show them you are serious about it.

It might NOT be the teacher. It could be the school itself that doesn't allow it. I'd ask some question and IF you don't get a good answer take it to the school board. Maybe your parents can help ya out here. And start mentioning how you are being discriminated and the school will take a better harder look into this as NO school wants to hear that they are discriminating.

As a 13 year old feminist, I totally agree. However, I think some parents would agree girls and boys should not wrestle with each other. That's a little old-fashioned, but I don't think co-ed wrestling shoudl be aloud

They should have the same units for both boys and girls. Unless this is a private school. They can make their own rules in a private school.

No, I dont agree..
Let a boy try to play field hockey or gymnastics and you'll scream bloody murder..
Title 9 doesnt apply to High School.. and it says that you must spend money equally... not that you have to let everyone participate... sorry...
